Oberammergau 2010

Once every ten years, the village of Oberammergau re-enacts The Passion Play, from Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, to his crucifixion and resurrection.  In 1634, while Europe's population was being ravaged by the black death, the village of Oberammergau was miraculously spared.  The townspeople vowed that since God had saved their lives, they would reenact the agony and crucifixion of Christ, once every ten years - and the villagers have fulfilled their pledge ever since.

This spectacular event occurs only once a decade, but it is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.  Performances are held in the aftenoon and evening, with an included dinner break in between.  More than 2,000 actors, singers, musicians, and technicians participate, with rehearsals beginning at least a year before the event!  The Passion Play Theatre has an open-air stage framed by magnificent apline scenery, and a covered auditorium features almost 5,000 seats.

Please do not miss this incredible opportunity to witness this centuries-old tradition which has been carried on since 1634.

Don't wait another ten years.
